I left Portland and moved to ? I pulled the orig 327 to install a new cam but ended up rebuilding it again and making it a 350. I could make it a 350 because the original 327 block is a large journal. I replaced the cam, installed a Pete Jackson gear drive and took it to the track and ran 13.40's at 104 MPH through the exhaust, on street tires & using the original 2-speed Powerglide tranny. Update: (July 2000) I have once again pulled the motor & replaced the original 327 motor with a 4 bolt 350 & the original 2-Speed Powerglide with a Turbo 350 & Holeshot "3000" Converter. I installed an ealier year set of Camel Humb heads, which are 2:02's, port-matched & polished, guide plates & screw in studs. The new cam is a Crane 292/302 duration; 238/244 @ .50 thousandths with a 502/516 lift. However, I installed 1:6 rockers on the intake side, which increased the lift to 536. In August 2000, I ran a 13.006 @ 105mph... I would be running 12.50's in Oregon, if I were still there because of the sea level difference of where I am at now. |
