John purchased the RS/SS in
1974 and drove it as a daily driver until 1986. The VIN says it was built in
November 1967, hence the black ashtray and hood with oil cooler style hood
ornaments was carried over to the 1968 model. It sat in his garage for the
next 6 years gathering dust. He was going to sell it but decided to restore
it. The restoration took 8 years to complete. John did a frame off
restoration himself, replacing the frame, rear quarters, inner and outer
fender wells, floor and trunk pan. It has Global West subframe connectors,
and front power disc brakes, GM 12 bolt posi with 3.55 gears. It came with
the deluxe interior and it was in pretty good shape but he had replaced the
carpet and had the front seats recovered. The engine is a 350 with a Holley
systemax II system, Pertronix Flame Thrower HEI, 750 CFM Holley carb,
FlowTech headers and 2.5" Flowmaster exhaust. |
