Fred Gibb (was instrumental in the development of the ultra rare ZL-1 Camaro, BE rear gear and other goodies that helped make Chevrolet a top contender on the circuit from 1968 until 1971) and Dick Harrell was a very close friend of the Gibb family and worked closely with them to put their cars in the winners circle.
Dick started racing at the age of 14. After 3 years in the army, Dick got back into racing and by the mid sixties, he was traveling all over the country to race. In 1965 he went to work for Nickey Chevrolet and after a couple years started his own performance shop in St. Louis, Mo.
In 1967, Dick worked with Fred Gibb on the Little Hoss car and also Don Yenko engineering the Yenko Super Camaro. He continued with Gibb and helped take the ZL-1 to the Nationals. Unfortunately, Mr. Harrell died an early death in September 1971 after an accident in his funny car.
I received info about Mr. Harrell from (www.1967z28.com) |

68 RS/SS   DANA 427 (Rare)
I actually scanned this image from a calender that I have
FYI: Could this be Kevin Suydam's DANA 427 Camaro that is featured below this image? |
 |
Kevin Suydam's 68 RS/SS   DANA 427 (Rare)
This 1968 Dana Camaro has been featured in numerous books and magazines through the years. This Camaro has 8,600 original miles and is unrestored. Nevertheless, it looks like a new car. |
 |
This is where Dana took over. The car was painted Hugger Orange, as orange was not an available color in 1968. Dana-supplied high performance equipment consisted of an L-88 camshaft, lightweight clutch, traction bars, and Dana's trademark fiberglass hood.
