Dean's 68 RS/SS Dean's 68 RS/SS
Dean's   68 RS/SS

Dean thinks its not worth mentioning the minor modifications/add-ons that has been done to his car. Even though the modifications are minor, they were done by Dick Harrell back in 1970 at Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose, Ca.

Dean has the original work order, which shows the modifications as follows: Jardine Headers, Sun Tach Guages, Mallory Distributor, high volume oil pump & a dual gate shifter.   The work order even has a metal badge attached to the paperwork. Dean had found the work order in the back seat. Now your probably wondering where are the Dick Harrell badges?   The original owner did not want the emblems on the car....   Dean was able to track down a recently retired head mechanic that worked at Courtesy Chevrolet in 1973. He stated that they had discontinued the Harrell mods after he died.

*For those of you who don't know who Dick Harrell was, read small synopsis below Dean's images*

If you would like to email Dean with any quesitons, click here   FYI:
Don't ask Dean to sell his car, its a keeper!

Fred Gibb (was instrumental in the development of the ultra rare ZL-1 Camaro, BE rear gear and other goodies that helped make Chevrolet a top contender on the circuit from 1968 until 1971) and Dick Harrell was a very close friend of the Gibb family and worked closely with them to put their cars in the winners circle.

Dick started racing at the age of 14. After 3 years in the army, Dick got back into racing and by the mid sixties, he was traveling all over the country to race. In 1965 he went to work for Nickey Chevrolet and after a couple years started his own performance shop in St. Louis, Mo.

In 1967, Dick worked with Fred Gibb on the Little Hoss car and also Don Yenko engineering the Yenko Super Camaro. He continued with Gibb and helped take the ZL-1 to the Nationals. Unfortunately, Mr. Harrell died an early death in September 1971 after an accident in his funny car.

This is where Dana took over. The car was painted Hugger Orange, as orange was not an available color in 1968. Dana-supplied high performance equipment consisted of an L-88 camshaft, lightweight clutch, traction bars, and Dana's trademark fiberglass hood.
